Lee Hall students have been busy preparing for SOLs a little bit differently this year. We are trying to be SMARTer and so we held an SOL Review Night for students in grades 3-5 and their families to attend. For an hour we had varying activities set up around the school, where students could get some extra practice reviewing and parents could learn what they could do at home to help their child prepare. Teachers used interactive SmartBoard lessons, Senteo, and hands on experiements. We had a wonderful educator from Jefferson Labs join us and lead our students in an investigation to become Ultraviolet Detectives.
Following our review activities the Lee Hall Dance Team performed and then we connected for a live videoconference to a Reef Education Program in Australia. Here students were able to speak with our host about coastal life in Australia and compare and contrast it to our own lives. Unfortunatly the reef had some technical difficulties that evening, but we all still had a great time.
We are thankful to Outback Steakhouse for a gift certificate donation and to Jefferson Labs for a wonderful demo for our students. Thanks to all of the wonderful teachers who created exciting review activities and to all of the students and families who joined us. You can visit this page for more review activities.
